On Tuesday 12th June the bus left Abernethy at 11am. we had a lovely drive in a luxury coach ( I had a large window) to Kirriemuir via Blairgowrie and other villages. The day was just perfect to travel, not too hot, a bit overcast but did not spoil the views of the countryside.
Even though we have not had much summer, the foliage on the trees and hedgerows is fantastic.
We stopped at Kirriemuir for 45 mins where I got a super large ice-cream, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We wandered around the village but I did not manage to visit the birthplace of J.M. Barrie but that is for me to see another time. We got back on the bus and what a treat for the eyes as we went through Glen Clova and saw the treasures Scotland has to offer, with the meandering burns and wildlife ( different birds). The bus was expertly driven on the narrow road. As I said I had a large window and was treated to a wonderful view.
We stopped at Forfar for over 1 hour where I found a good bakers and of course I had to buy a Forfar bridie to bring home (very good too). I was impressed with the shops in Forfar and as I had never been there before enjoyed exploring.
Time came to board the bus again and off we headed for home, stopping at the Wheel Inn, Scone for a lovely high tea.
What a lovely day I had and a big thank you to all the committee and all who do the organizing both for our outing and the Christmas Party.
