THE STEEPLE CLOCK

Sitting in the sun in garden fair
Tower clock just struck the hour
Is that 25 o’clock again
Or is it half past fower?

It was installed during VR’s reign
It’s been there quite some time
And wound by hand in those auld days
By local cooncil, syne.

But now it’s lecky’ and no by hand
It disnae work just richt
Yiv’ nae idea what time it is
Is it day or is it nicht?

I dinnae care I hae’ a thing
That’s sat by me a while
And if I need tae ken the time
It’s my trusty auld sundial.
