Well, as I type this we are rapidly approaching the end of the 2009/10 season. The shuttles are being put to roost for the summer and the nets being taken in for patching. Weekly, for the last 6 months or so, we have gathered at the school for a couple of hours on a Wednesday night for a bit of exercise and a bit of competition (followed by a pint in the Crees to undo all the good). The club is not competing in any local leagues and the games we have are normally purely just for fun but when a Newburgh/Abernethy tournament was suggested it was very difficult not to suddenly start taking it all seriously. 2 hours and nine games later it was all over and I am happy to say we won – and convincingly. They claim it is because none of their best players were available but we know the truth!
So thanks to those who have kept the club going over the last year. And thanks to all of the members, both old and new, for supporting it too. The season does not restart till the autumn and we look forward to welcoming back existing member but also hope some new people might like to join us.
