Imogen Graham and her Connemara pony, Fenella went to Kelso for the Scottish Endurance Riding Club Championships to try for a Bronze Thistle award. They had already ridden two rides of 30km to qualify and at Kelso they had to ride for 50km at at least 9.5km an hour. This involved a break half way for Fenella to be checked by the vets.
As Imogen was 10 she had to ride with an adult so Mum, Kirstie and part-Arab Arabelle were part of the team as were Grannie and Grandad, Anne and Allistair, who helped by meeting up with the riders en route with refreshments for ponies and jockeys as well as cold sloshes and sponges for the ponies to help cool them down before they were vetted.
50 km is a long way for a little girl and her pony but they did very well and Imogen now has her Bronze Thistle award.
