Well, once again the fete has been and gone. We were extremely lucky with the weather and it was great to see so many people. We raised more than £2000 towards hall funds and, as always, we are hugely grateful to everyone who supported the event in any way. Thank you to everyone who donated time, money, prizes and home-baking, thank you to everyone who built gazebos and manned stalls and, of course, thank you to everyone who came along and spent money on the day.
It was great to see lots of new volunteers this year alongside all the ‘regulars’, without whom the fete wouldn’t happen. We worry every year that it might not come together and every year (so far!) it has. So, to summarise, THANK YOU!! We really appreciate it!
In addition to the money from the fete, we have also received a very generous donation of £2000 from Branston (Scotland) Ltd. They have always been very supportive of the hall committee and, once again, we are very grateful.
Our other good news is that we are in receipt of funding of £3000 from the Robertson Trust. They supported the work we did last summer and were impressed enough with the work we did to want to help us again. We plan to use this money to cover some of our outstanding maintenance including redecorating the kitchen area and fixing the roof but the biggest expense will be to fix the window surrounds in the main hall. Since last year’s upgrade, the hall is so well insulated that condensation is forming on the cold stone surrounds causing the paint to flake and discolour. Work to address this is starting in August.
We hope you enjoy using the hall. The committee works hard to maintain it to a high standard.
If you have any questions or ideas or if you would like to get involved in the running of the hall, our next meetings are on Monday 31st August and Monday 26th October at 8pm in the hall.
Everyone is welcome to come along and we would be very pleased to see you.
